The Sims 4 Black Sims Mods: Creating Poses in Blender 2.8/2.9/3.0 - Rigs & Compatibility Tips for S4S
People are struggling to get the old 2.7 series of The Sims 4 mods to work on their computers, and I'm hoping that this article will be helpful to someone out there who is facing a similar issue. As I'm currently in the process of moving from Blender 2.7 to Blender 3.0 myself, I decided to write down what I understand to be the key differences between the two versions.
One major difference is that until now, only the 2.7 series has supported The Sims 4 Studio (S4S). However, with the release of newer Blender versions, it's become clear that many users are struggling to make poses/animations created in these newer versions compatible with S4S.
In our Pose Makers server, I've noticed an increasing number of questions about working in newer Blender versions and how to make them compatible with S4S. Unfortunately, the information below concerning S4S is now obsolete, but some tips might still be useful if you need to switch between different Blender versions or want to use the prepared rigs shared below.
As of October 4th, 2022, Sims 4 Studio has released a new beta version that now supports Blender version 3.3. This means that users can finally start taking advantage of the newer features and more modern interface that these versions offer.
To make poses/animations created in Blender 2.8/2.9/3.0 compatible with S4S, you'll need to follow a few simple steps:
* Make sure your pose/animations are exported as BVH files.
* Use the 'Export Animation' option in Blender to export your animation as a BVH file.
* In S4S, go to 'File' > 'Import' and select the BVH file you just exported.
By following these tips, you should be able to make poses/animations created in newer Blender versions compatible with S4S.
